Some campgrounds have a playground and a pool and call it a family experience. Rousseau’s Landing is different. RV Site 2 sits on private land inside Sandbar Provincial Park, on the shores of Sandbar Lake, in the heart of Northwestern Ontario’s Sunset Country. The experience your family finds here isn’t manufactured — it’s real.

Site 2 comes with full electrical hookup, a fresh water connection, and grey water access right at your rig. Your own picnic table gives the family a place to eat, play games, and watch the lake. Everything is set up so you can pull in, get comfortable, and start enjoying the trip right away.

The water here is excellent — clean, clear, and straight from a quality source. We hear about it all the time from guests who notice the difference. If you need the dump station, Sandbar Provincial Park has one about 3 kilometres away.

Showers are available at the lodge for a small daily or weekly fee. Firewood is available on site, and ice is too. Propane refills are easy to arrange. You won’t need to run errands constantly — but if you do need supplies, Ignace is just 4 miles south on Highway 599, with grocery stores and restaurants close by.

The kids can fish on Sandbar Lake the day you arrive. We have boats available for rent, and if your family wants to explore the surrounding area, we have boats cached on more than 15 nearby lakes. Kids 14 and under fish at a reduced rate — you can find full details on our Rates page.

Walleye is the main catch here, and there’s nothing quite like watching a kid haul in their first walleye. Northern Pike are plentiful too, and on the right day, the action is almost non-stop. The fish house on site has running water, stainless steel sinks, and a walk-in freezer, so you can clean your catch and keep it in great condition for the trip home.

Evenings around the fire at your site are something families talk about for years. Quiet hours start at 11:00 p.m., and the atmosphere is always calm and respectful. We’ve had multi-generational families come back every summer for decades, and that’s not something that happens by accident.

What would make this summer’s camping trip the one your kids remember for the rest of their lives — and would the right fishing lake be part of it?
