Some of the best moments here don’t happen out on the water. They happen at the dock, when somebody comes in with a grin they can’t hide and everybody else drops what they’re doing to come have a look.

Every season our guests pull some remarkable fish out of Sandbar Lake and the boat cache lakes around us. Most of those fish go back in the water. What stays is the story — and the photo. So we started keeping track. The Big Fish Brag Board is where we post the biggest catch of each species for the year. Adults on one board, kids on their own.

I like this board because of who ends up on it. Some of these names belong to families who have been coming here for years. Some belong to people on their first trip. And more than once a kid has out-fished the adults in their own group — have a look at the walleye numbers below and you’ll see what I mean.

If you’re with us this season, send us your photo. Get the fish measured, take the picture, and pass it along before you head home. We’ll add you to the board.

How to Get on the Board

Send us your catch and we’ll post it. Email your photo to RousseausLanding@outlook.com and include:

  • The length of the fish in inches
  • The species
  • The angler’s name
  • Whether it goes on the kids’ board or the adults’ board

We post catches as they come in, so check back through the season to see whether your fish is still holding the top spot. It usually doesn’t hold for long.

Come Fish With Us

A brag board only works because people come back. The names on this page belong to families who make the drive year after year, kids who caught their first walleye off our dock, and groups who book the same week every season without needing to be asked.

If you’d like to be on next year’s board, the first step is getting your dates on the calendar.
