A Traditional Northern Ontario Fishing & Hunting Camp
Rousseau’s Landing is a drive-to fishing and hunting destination located directly on the shores of Sandbar Lake in Northwestern Ontario.
We provide a rare balance of accessibility and wilderness privacy that guests have valued for decades.
Rousseau’s Landing is one of the only private properties in Canada located within a Provincial Park. There are no other cottages or resorts on the lake.
That distinction defines the experience: controlled access, forest buffering between cabins, reduced outside traffic, and a peaceful shoreline — all just a five-minute drive from the town of Ignace services.

The Housekeeping Cabin Experience
Every cabin at Rousseau’s Landing is designed around a true Northern Ontario housekeeping model. That means private cabins with no shared hallways or lodge rooms, full kitchens with stove, refrigerator, and essential cookware, private bathrooms with shower, and outdoor living space with a deck, BBQ, picnic table, and fire pit.
Cabins are rented on a weekly, per-person structure, making the experience affordable for families and fishing groups alike. You bring your groceries and personal gear — we provide the basecamp.
This setup gives guests freedom. You control your schedule. Cook when you want. Fish at sunrise. Stay out late. Relax around the fire in the evening and celebrate your day.

The Lodge — Your Welcome Point on Sandbar Lake
The lodge at Rousseau’s Landing serves as the central hub of the property — your first stop upon arrival and the anchor point of the entire camp.
It reflects the classic Northern Ontario fishing camp style: red siding, simple architecture, and a practical layout built around outdoor living.
Fishing on Sandbar Lake and Beyond
Rousseau’s Landing is an excellent choice for Walleye and Northern Pike fishing.
You can start fishing as soon as you arrive on the home lake.
You also have a daily choice of surrounding lakes including Kukukus, Dibble, Arethusa, and many more to fish for Walleye, Northern Pike, Lake Trout, Perch, and Smallmouth Bass.
We have boat caches on over 15 different lakes. Sandbar and Kukukus offer 16ft boats with Yamaha 4-stroke engines.
All other lakes have 16ft boats with 2-stroke engines.
Our fish house is one of the largest in the area, featuring a walk-in freezer, running water, and a large fish cleaning area with stainless steel sinks.

Hunting Basecamp — Moose & Bear
Rousseau’s Landing has access to Wildlife Management Units 15A, 15B, 12, and 13, giving hunters flexibility to position across multiple zones based on current activity patterns.
Bear hunters are guaranteed an active stand with pre-baited sites maintained throughout the season.
We will help you track your bear and retrieve it for harvest.
For moose hunters, our location provides access to some of the highest-density moose territory in the province, with hundreds of square miles of prime moose country accessible by logging roads, cutovers, and highway corridors.
A Community That Keeps Coming Back
What sets Rousseau’s Landing apart is not just the fishing, hunting, or the location — it’s the community. With a 90–95% repeat customer rate, guests return year after year because the structure works.
Families build traditions here. Fishing groups maintain annual dates. Hunters rely on this dependable basecamp season after season.
From the guest who caught his first fish here at age seven and still returns, to multi-generational families who’ve been visiting for decades, to professional groups who trust us with their annual retreats — Rousseau’s Landing is where lasting memories are made.
